A Moroccan artist living in Australia

My work is inspired by the Moorish garden and architecture of the “Great Mosque of Cordoba” in Andalusia. When the Moors ruled Spain and in spite of religious differences there developed an environment of shared culture that provided a foundation for great achievements. Ultimately, this period marked the rise of Islam in Europe. I have included in my works a few of the fruits stated in the Holy Quran. This highlights how we are blessed by the gracious provisions of God in the generosity of these sacred plants.  

I have chosen a very famous reading that embraced the Islamic buildings of the Moors at the time and it is still relevant to the political climate in which we find ourselves now – it is Arabic for: …the only conqueror is Allah.
